Grades will be based on a point system:

1.   Weekly quizzes: 10 points. Most every week there will be a quiz on vocabulary assigned and on grammar. It will be on new words and 5-10 previously learned vocabulary. The lowest score from each semester will be dropped.  If you miss a class, students should arrange for  a makeup quiz.  If you miss more than two quizzes in a semester, the lowest grade will not be dropped.   If you are late to class and the quiz has already started, words will not be repeated and the grade on the quiz will count. Make sure your parent gets you to class on time.

2.   Comprehensive quizzes: 20 points. Every 5 lessons a quiz will be given on the Quia internet site that will include any vocabulary words from those lessons.

3.   Mid-term and Final: 200 points each.  Two exams will be given in the classroom during the year:  One in mid-January and one the end of May. The exams will be taken from homework assignments or will be similar to assigned work

4.   Mini-exams:  100 points.  There will be at least 2 additional tests that students will take on Quia .

5.      Homework:  10 points/ homework assignment

Homework assigned will be due the following week, unless otherwise specified. Homework turned in complete and on time will be given 10 points. If it is turned in up  to 1 week late it will be given 5 points.  Homework more than one week late will be corrected but no points will be given.

It is the responsibility of the student to either call me or e-mail if there are questions about any of the homework.  Not understanding the lesson will not be an acceptable excuse for incomplete homework.  I will be willing to meet with any student for additional help with homework.

All homework must be done in pencil, black or blue ink, or typed.   Homework written in any color but blue or black will be returned to be redone and will not receive full credit.  Homework must be legible!  If  I cannot read it, I will not correct it and it will be redone.  Typing is not only allowed, it is encouraged.

6.      For high school students desiring a full credit for the year, there will be additional requirements. I will give a project for each semester worth 250 points. There will be more than one option to choose from. The first project will be assigned in October and due before Christmas break. The second will be assigned in February and due the beginning of May.
